CBAM deadlines: the 2026–2027 implementation timeline

Key milestones

1. 1 January 2026 — definitive regimeThe CBAM definitive regime became applicable and importers entered the new authorisation and financial-obligation framework.
2. 2026 — quarterly certificate pricesThe Commission publishes a CBAM certificate price for each quarter of 2026. Q1 and Q2 have already been published; later quarters follow the Commission schedule.
3. 1 September 2026 — verifier registry accessAccredited CBAM verifiers can register in the CBAM Registry and the first verification work can begin.
4. February 2027 — certificate purchasingAuthorised declarants are expected to begin purchasing CBAM certificates covering 2026 imports through the common central platform.
5. 30 September 2027 — first annual declarationThe first CBAM declaration, covering 2026 imports, is due together with the corresponding certificate surrender requirement.
